LEARNING FROM HISTORY

The International German-Polish-Ukrainian project 2018-2019 Learning from History: Discrimination focuses on the issue of discrimination in historical and contemporary perspectives.

The seminar, organized by the International Youth Meeting Center in Oswiecim, takes place on 22-29 November 2018 in Oswiecim, Poland. The organizer covers meals, accommodation and entrance fees.

The competition is open to the students of all the faculties of Central Ukrainian State Pedagogical University aged between 18 and 26. Competitors must be passport holders of Ukraine and must have a valid foreign passport or travel document. 

To participate in the project:

  1. send a filled in application form (in English and Ukrainian) by email to the address: [email protected]. Please, take the application form on the site http://www.esu-ua.org.ua (Heading “Our Projects”, “Learning from History”);
  2. make a 3 minutes’ prepared presentation on the topic “Discrimination” and present it to the jury on 17 October 2018 in Room 706 (7-storeyed building) at 2 p.m.

Requirements for the oral  presentation:

  • Language of the presentation is English
  • show your perspectives on the problems of discrimination, hate, indifference, radicalism, Holocaust
  • speak what dimensions and consequences these social phenomena may have

The results of the competition will be announced on 18, October 2018 on the site http://www.esu-ua.org.ua and the finalists will be invited to take part in the German-Polish-Ukrainian project 2018-2019 Learning from History: Discrimination on 22-29 November 2018 in Oswiecim, Poland.

During the international project the participants will have a unique opportunity to visit the State Museum Auschwitz-Birkenau in Poland, get to know about institutionalized discrimination in the Nazi policy in the 1930s-1940s, discuss contemporary forms of discrimination and the ways to counteract it. The poster workshop in the final part of the seminar will help the participants to process the things seen and heard, learn to make posters and enjoy the team work.
